Kilimanjaro · Tanzania · 5,895m
From your sofa to the summit, this is a complete 6-month programme that takes ordinary people to the top of Africa. No mountaineering experience required... just a decision to go.
The Balance Difference
One in three people who attempt Kilimanjaro don't make it to the top. The industry average success rate is 65%. Usually, it's not fitness that stops them, it's preparation.
We start months before you land in Tanzania. Training plans, group calls, UK training hikes, monthly information webinars. By the time you're at the foot of the mountain, you're ready.
Hiking with Will is such a great experience. He's an excellent guide. Not just because of his knowledge, but because of his genuine passion for getting people to where they want to go.
How It Works
Your journey broken into three phases. Each one builds on the last, so by the time you're on the mountain, the hard work is already done.
Months 1–2
We start where you are. Whether you walk to work or run marathons, your plan is tailored to your starting point. No one gets left behind.
Months 3–4
The training gets harder. The bond with your group gets stronger. This is where most people surprise themselves.
Months 5–6 + Expedition
Final preparation, then Tanzania. Eight days on the mountain with daily health checks, your group, and your expedition leader.

Your Guide
I've been leading people through demanding environments for years — not as a professional mountaineer - but as someone who understands what it takes to get an ordinary person to an extraordinary place. I've led expeditions with Camps International to Costa Rica, Peru and Kenya. I've climbed Kilimanjaro. I've stood on summits across the Alps and the mountains of Georgia, and trekked to Everest Base Camp. I know what altitude does to a body, what a hard day on the mountain does to a group and what the difference between a prepared climber and an unprepared one looks like at 5,000 metres.
I started Balance Adventures because I believe that with the right support, almost anyone can stand on Kilimanjaro's summit.
I genuinely thought Kilimanjaro wasn't for someone like me. The preparation programme changed everything — by the time we flew out, I felt ready. Standing on the summit was the proudest moment of my life.
